Children's lamps from Lumimi

Our goal is to shed loving light on the children's unique imagination; add happy and magical

energy by making their world even more colorful, adventurous and safe.

Lumimi - our adventure

We are a small family business from Larvik consisting of my husband Lukas, carpenter, and me, Monika, designer, but first and foremost a mother with a love for the fantastic imagination my three children have. The unique ability of children to suddenly find themselves in a completely different magical world. Of course, it is about the imagination that brings happiness and joy, and does not come from fear such as being afraid of the dark.

With our oldest daughter, Julia, that was exactly what we experienced; she was afraid of the dark. Night song worked to get Julia to soar off to the peaceful dream world. But, as a sudden movement awoke her and she was alone in a darkened room, her imagination took her to a little more sinister places. And handmade night lamp by dad and mom eventually became the solution.

The first Lumimi children's lamp was created by combining Lukas' passion for carpentry, my drawing skills and an eye for happy colors and details, and our desire to help Julia keep her imagination bright and not confuse her in dark corners. This was the start of our little adventure we called Lumimi, our dream to bring warm light and magic with cute children's lamps into your child's life.

Children's lamps of the best quality

Our children's lamps are all shaped from solid pinewood and sanded by hand. Then painted with Jotun SENS paint before we give our craft light with small adjustable LED lamps and a Samsung rechargeable battery. Everything is done by us, by hand, just like the first night light we made for Julia, now only equipped with a little better equipment.

Choosing pinewood as the material was an easy choice. Lukas is concerned that his craftsmanship is of the best quality wood. When it comes to Jotun SENS paint, it was not a long process either. Sandefjord is not that far from Larvik, and then choosing Jotun became a natural choice. Especially when we could quickly travel in to see and inquire about their paint. That our children's lamp should be 100% safe for your child even during play and, for example, ending up in your little one's mouth, is essential for us. Jotun SENS paint we use contains no solvents, harmful evaporation does not occur and smells very little. And important for us is that SENS paint is recommended by the Norwegian Asthma and Allergy Association (NAAF).

The LED lights themselves and the Samsung battery were a slightly longer process. Here we had to learn more about what is the best and safest to choose both in relation to our children and the environment. To be able to place the children's lamp easily wherever you want, without dangerous wires and to be dependent on power outlets where the lamp should be inside the children's room. We also wanted our lamp to provide a loving and warm light, be dimmed to provide some light without disturbing a good night's sleep and produced by a reliable supplier we can trust. Again, first and foremost, it is our child's safety that is the essence, that is precisely why we started with children's lamps - give children a safe and happy feeling.

Of course, our children's lamps have been CE marked. This means that it can be documented that the lamp from us meets the requirements for safety, health and the environment that apply in the EEA.

Environmentally friendly and ethically produced quality lamp.

As a company, we are committed to being able to be proud of our products and that everything that has to do with LUMIMI follows our requirements and values; safety for children, environmental friendliness and ethical production. We do not lag behind companies that make easy and cheap choices and choose to close our eyes to suppliers who do not follow ethical production. As parents, we care about our children's best interests; their development, nice and happy childhood and their security. Especially after having children ourselves, we have opened our eyes to where the products we buy come from. We know that other children may suffer in order for us to be offered cheaper alternatives, and that is not something we want to support!

As a company, we are concerned with choosing solutions that are as environmentally friendly as possible. We should all take some responsibility. You can make a small difference when you choose to buy a night light for the children's room made of pine instead of hard plastic or other materials that are not biodegradable. And we, Lumimi, can choose packaging and make choices that make our products as little polluting as possible. This is, for example, why you will not find a remote control with our lamps. It's a little extra feature to make our lives a LITTLE easier, but this little thing has a BIG impact on the pollution we leave behind. All Lumimi children's lamps are packed plastic-free: You will have our handmade children's lamp delicately rolled into an organic special paper, designed to mimic beeswax patterns, which take care of the lamp inside our recyclable box during shipping. No bubble wrap is used!

As parents, we are concerned with teaching our children about quality instead of the quantity and value of things they own and have. And just as desired with our children's lamps are; night lamp that lasts throughout childhood and can be inherited, these are the products we surround our little ones with. Reuse is gold for both us and the planet. Not to mention the soul a quality product that goods have, compared to cheaply produced products that only provide short-term pleasure.
